Hello.  This is team ISO.

Welcome to out e-Portfolio.  Here you will find videos of chapter summaries and example problems.

Drew

This is a picture of my brother, dad, and me (in that order from left to right) on Oberlin Peak in Glacier National Park.  I like mountains.

Hi, I'm Drew.  I grew up in Sandpoint, ID, and I was homeschooled for the majority of my education through high school.  Some of the things I enjoy are mountains, cats, hiking, camping, alpine skiing, frisbee, mountain biking, good food, reading, and thinking and expanding my worldview.  Also, I enjoy helping other people learn, especially if it's something I have worked hard to understand.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes.

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”

        -Aristotle

“Sit down before a fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconceived notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abysses nature leads, or you shall learn nothing.”

        -Thomas Henry Huxley

“It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.”

        -Epictetus

“Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise.  Seek what they sought.”

        -Matsuo Basho

"You have to believe and yet question beliefs at the same time.  If you are a complete cynic and believe nothing, you do nothing and get nowhere, but if you believe too much, you fool yourself."

        -Richard Zare

Hello,

I'm Dustin Miller.

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student, currently working on my 6th semester at BSU. I'm taking Math 275, ME 302, ENGR 245(+L), and ENGR 220 this semester.

This is a picture of my wife and I on our wedding day. We were married last summer.

I have an internship at Musgrove Engineering where I design HVAC systems in commercial buildings (many of which have been BSU buildings).

I grew up in Juneau, Alaska, but have lived in Boise since 2009.

My wife recently convinced me to adopt a kitten.

We named him Sheldon after a character on our favorite television show.

I also like hunting and target shootings. Guns are of great interest to me.

I enjoy reading for leisure, but I haven't had time to read anything good lately.

My favorite quote lately would have to be the following:

"I never commit to memory anything that can be easily looked up in a book".

Ryan Schwartz

  (Me and my dog, Eddy)

Hello, my name is Ryan.  I am currently a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering.  I was born in Boise, before moving to Sandpoint at the age of six months.  Sandpoint is a beautiful small town next to Lake Pend Oreille in the Idaho Panhandle.

(Lake Pend Oreille from Scotchman Peak)

Growing up in such proximity to the outdoors, I love to hike, run, mountain bike, and camp.  I enjoy watching and playing soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, and Ultimate Frisbee.  I also enjoy many TV shows which include The Walking Dead, Sherlock, White Collar, and How I Met Your Mother.  I have been affectionately referred to as “ginger” for much of my life, though I would contend I’m more of a strawberry blond.  I have two younger brothers and two dogs.  I hope to use the knowledge I am gaining through my education to help solve some of the problems associated with the future of energy.

Favorite quotes:

“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” -Albus Dumbledore

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it 'The Present'.” –Eleanor Roosevelt

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein

Rhett

My name is Rhett Edwards. I was originally born in Atlanta, Georgia but have lived in 3 other states since then, never living in one place for more than 5 years. I am currently in my fourth semester at Boise State University. I have an interest in video games, hiking, backpacking, camping, waterfalls, numerous (but not all) sports and firearms.

This is a picture of me when i hiked up to the top of the mountain behind our house back in Sagle, Idaho with my family. I was trail blazing and stepped into a sink hole and it took me a few minutes to get back up

 Derrick Hirsch

Hello, my name is Derrick and I am from Aztec, NM. I am a mechanical engineering student and I am currently a sophmore here at Boise State. My interests are playing any and every sport (mostly football), snowboarding, hiking, camping, traveling, and anything that has to do with the great outdoors.

This is my brother and I on top of Mt. Whitney over the summer. Mt. Whitney is the highest point in the U.S. excluding Alaska.

This is from our Fourth of July camping trip near Silverton, Colorado. (I'm in the blue shorts.) Having a good time with my closest friends will always be the most important thing in my life.
