Testing Plan
The rocket prototype was tested to ensure that the performance of the rocket met the customer requirements and the design specifications. A failure of just one subsystem of the rocket could potentially destroy the entire prototype. This high risk nature of a high power rocket requires extensive and thorough testing so that there will be confidence of the rockets performance on launch day. The high level block diagram of the units/ subsystems under test with interfaces is shown below. A majority of testing will be centered on the recovery of the rocket. This function requires the most moving parts and occurs in multiple stages.
Tests required are:
- Safety Features:
- Check backup flight boards
- Airframe:
- Airframe Dry Fit
- Electronics Bay Strength
- Drop Test of airframe
- Electrical Bay:
- Data Collection of Sensors
- Flight Event Triggers
- Data Transmission
- Recovery Bay:
- Nose Cone Ejection
- Drogue and Mains Parachute Deployment/ Opening
- Mains Release Mechanism
- Full System Test (Flight)
